Edward joined J A Kemp in 2015 and is a European patent attorney. Edward has experience in drafting and prosecuting applications in a wide variety of subject matter, but has specific experience and particularly enjoys working on cases in high tech fields such as optics and semiconductor devices. Edward has particular experience in the display industry through previous work at a multinational manufacturer of liquid crystal displays and a PhD at Imperial College London which involved working on improving the efficiency of Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) for use in displays. Edward maintains this interest via the handling of applications directed to display technology, including the related optical and semiconductor devices used within the field.
Edward also handles applications in other high tech fields such as scientific instruments, communications and computing. In particular, Edward has drafted a number of applications relating to machine learning and its application in image recognition and other fields. Edward has experience prosecuting applications before both the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office as well as handling large patent families across the globe. He is based in our London office.
