New Biotechnology and Life Sciences Group Head
From 1 April 2013 Patrick Campbell takes over from Geoff Woods as the Head of J A Kemp's Biotechnology and Life Sciences Group.
Patrick Campbell has over 20 years' experience in patent work relating to biotechnology, life sciences and small molecule pharmaceuticals. Pat handles work for global companies, small and mid-sized companies and academic institutions in the UK, US and elsewhere. Much of his work is focused on prosecuting applications and handling oppositions at the European Patent Office.
Geoff Woods has been head of the Biotechnology and Life Sciences Group for many years and has over 30 years' professional experience in the biotechnology sector. Geoff continues to focus on client work, especially work for Japanese Applicants and for small and medium-sized British companies. He is a frequent visitor to Japan.

Head of Trade Marks, James Fish attends Enforcement Committee meeting of the World Customs Organisation
Partner James Fish attended the enforcement committee meeting of the World Customs Organisation in Brussels on 20 March 2013 on behalf of FICPI. James spoke on the subject of how private practitioners can add an additional layer of cooperation between customs and IP rightholders in their fight against counterfeits.

J A Kemp sponsored the Nordic IPR Conference in Stockholm between 18-20 March 2013. The conference theme was "How to Maintain Competitive Advantage by Protecting and Monetarising Your Intellectual Property". Partners Ravi Srinivasan and Toby Hopkin attended the conference and spoke on the subject of "Harmonising Patent Law: Current Realities, Best Practice and the Potential of the Tegernsee Project".
