Judith Mercer

Judith is a European and UK Patent Attorney. Judith's responsibilities include the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications in the engineering and IT field. She handles cases in various technical fields, including in the manufacture and design of printers, displays, and optical devices, as well as HVAC systems and automotive inventions. She has particular experience in advising Japanese clients in the prosecution of patent applications before the European Patent Office and drafting applications related to the manufacture of semiconductor devices.

Judith has a background in the disciplines of mechanical and aeronautical engineering. Before joining the firm she studied for her PhD at the Surrey Space Centre and enjoyed close collaboration with her industrial sponsor, Airbus Defence and Space. Prior to her PhD Judith worked for a design and analysis consultancy specialising in aircraft engines.

Judith joined J A Kemp as a trainee patent attorney in 2017 and became an associate in 2023. Judith works in our London office.
