Chris O’Beirne

Chris is a European and UK Patent Attorney based in our London office. He handles drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications in a wide variety of technical areas in engineering and IT, with particular experience in the aeronautical, automotive, medical device, oil and gas, and consumer electronics fields. He works with a broad range of clients from across the world, many of which are based in Japan and the US. Chris has experience in handling applications before the European Patent Office and UK Intellectual Property Office, as well as co-coordinating patent prosecution for large patent families across the world in Asia, the US, Africa and the Middle East. Chris also has experience of due diligence work and freedom to operate/infringement opinions.

Chris joined J A Kemp in 2014, and holds a Masters degree in engineering from the University of Cambridge, with a specialisation in aeronautical engineering. As part of his degree, he also spent a year studying at the Ecole Centrale, Paris, and speaks fluent French. Before joining the firm, Chris worked in corporate finance, where he gained experience of accounting and corporate transactions. He became an associate in 2019.
